Livingroom — Before — testing new paint color

It’s been 15 years since the interior of the house was painted. It is a dark house, inside, partly due to its directional situation, and partly due to it’s wide, overhanging eaves, a shading feature on many Florida homes. Because of the dark-factor, I had selected antique white for the main color, and used a pastel taupe in the study. I didn’t mean to leave it that way for so long, as I love and need color.

And I didn’t plan on letting it go unstyled for so long, but I’d been collecting Danish Modern and Mid-20th Century Modern furnishings and artifacts over at least 12 of those years…

One of the colors for the living area is the green shown here: Valspar Ultra Premium 60007-5C, "Olive Marinade" in the Interior Eggshell finish. The curved wall to the right will be either a dark or medium/light taupe or gray (to begin with). I’d like to do the curved wall with largish squares of faux gold and silver leaf, eventually. It is a short wall and meets the wall with the double doorway. The door-wall is Olive Marinade, and the doors will be black (they are currently a mahogany or cherry stain).

The "Olive Marinade" is a much lighter and yellow based green than the "Withered Moss" paint color in the guest bedroom, although they look similar in hue in the photos — at least, on my computer browser. www.flickr.com/photos/monkeysox/2565402323/in/set-7215760…
