Automobile Photographs: This is a very large collection of images whose primary, but not exclusive, focus is on American automotive classics. Images are organized by decade, by manufacturer, and by topics (such as convertibles, station wagons, muscle cars, etc.)
Central Illinois (except Springfield): Central Illinois (except Springfield): Photos relating to the middle section of the "Land of Lincoln" (except for the Capital City of Springfield) may be found in this collection. Every city and town I’ve photographed is contained within its own set, and rural (as in "counrtyside") photographs are grouped by county.
Springfield, Illinois: All of my photographs of Springfield and the Abraham Lincoln Sites are in this collection. For the City of Springfield, there are separate sets for the Capitol Complex, Downtown (including the Old State Capitol), Neighborhoods, Parks, Illinois State Fairgrounds (and past State Fairs), and more. Photographs of Lincoln sites include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln Tomb, and so on. Also in the Lincoln "All About Abe" (Set) are a few Lincoln sites not located in Springfield.
The Illinois State Fair: My collection of photographs of the Illinois State Fair. The fair offers something for everyone. Grab a corn dog and lemon shake-up, and come take a look!
Beyond Central Illinois: Other locales in the United States and Canada including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle.
In addition to my location-based sets, here are links to some "topical" collections and sets I’ve put together:
Barbers & Barber Shops: Traditional barbers and barber shops are on the endangered species list. But there are still plenty to be found if you go looking for them.
Almost Everything Else. Check It Out!!!: Included topics range from man’s first walk on the moon to small town schools and churches, and from Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers (our favorite breed) to things that are abandoned, neglected, weathered, or rusty.

Small and Quick Home Improvement Jobs

Many people do not learn how important safety is until they get hurt doing a home-improvement project. You are fortunate because many people are killed every year working on their homes. The most common type of accident involves falling down, or falling off of something. Roof top injuries are very common, especially for those that are amateurs at fixing their own homes.
Regardless of where you are using it, ladders are primary candidates for falling injuries. Most often, people are not setting the ladder up right or decide to reach for something which causes them to fall over. Here are a few tips on how you can prevent falls when doing home-improvement repairs.
Power equipment generally comes with a lot of safety features. Just one type of feature is the safety guard which is most often seen with grinding and cutting power tools. Never remove those guards in the interest of making something more convenient to use. Since there is a lot of flying debris, you could end up hurting your eyes, face or hands. As we always say, wear a good pair of quality safety glasses, please. Along with the safety glasses, leather gloves should always be worn to ensure adequate hand protection. This is common sense safety advice and is easy to remember. Even so, there are still a lot of people who get hurt because they choose to ignore this advice. If you want to do a lot of painting, it would be beneficial to rent a small scaffold set up. You can find them online or ask someone about them at your local Lowe’s or Home Depot. You will be glad you rented scaffolding if you plan to repaint your ceilings. If you don’t think a scaffold system will make your work easier and faster, you will change your mind after repainting just one ceiling the old-fashioned way, with a ladder. If you have multiple rooms to paint, then a small scaffold will be much appreciated and money well spent. Ceilings can be the biggest challenge of repainting and using a ladder just doesn’t make any sense. You can only paint a small section of the ceiling at a time. With a scaffold, it’s simple to paint a lot more of the ceiling without having to move. Castor wheels are a nice touch on several scaffolding units as they make it easy to scoot around the room as you finish each area. when you are looking at units to rent, make sure you find one with castor wheels. It will simplify your home improvement project immensely.
There are any number of possible scenarios with electrical hazards and safety. This is more true with older buildings and homes, and sometimes you really need to be aware of it. Because of heat and cold, screws can actually become loose via expansion and contraction. Working with electrical wires requires some knowledge of electricity and knowing if the wires are live. The heat from lighting fixtures will cause the insulation to become brittle. When that happens, it will eventually flake off and expose the conductors. Working with electricity can be quite dangerous so take the time to understand these concepts.
People may get injured more times than not by taking shortcuts and doing what they are not supposed to. This is an universal attitude and reason often cited so often in accident root cause analysis.

Try looking for fixtures that have the same mounting system as your current ones so you can save time on the project.
If you live in an older house that has imperfections in the ceiling surface, you can camouflage them with the right lighting choice. Avoid lights that flood the ceiling surface with light, instead choosing recessed can lighting or low-hanging pendant-style fixtures. These types of lighting do not direct light across the ceiling, hiding ripples, bulges or patched cracks.
Have your chimney cleaned and inspected prior to using your fireplace each year. The inspector can look for creosote build-up, cracks in the lining, nests from animals or other problems that could spell disaster. Invest in plans for your major home improvements so that you don’t end up with an unsafe upgrade. The cost is worth it just for the peace of mind it will give you! Also, these records will remain on file for your house, so if you choose to sell the buyers will know that your upgrades were done correctly.
Replace all of your light bulbs in your home with CFL (Compact Florescent) lights, this will help you save money on your electric bill and consume less energy. Consuming less energy will help keep energy demands down in your area and keep costs from rising for electricity. Everyone should do their part to help conserve energy.
